Boriana Kamenova, MD, is a hematologist/oncologist at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. She treats all hematology and medical oncology patients and has a special interest in solid malignancies and hematological disorders.
Board-certified in hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Kamenova received a medical degree from Higher Medical Institute (HMI) in Sofia, Bulgaria. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine-Bronx VA Medical Program in New York, and a hematology and oncology fellowship at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn.
Prior to joining UPMC, Dr. Kamenova worked as a community oncologist in Waterloo, IA, where she treated a wide array of cancers and blood disorders. She later became an assistant professor at the Division of Hematology and Oncology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Kamenova is an active member of both the American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology and has experience teaching medical students, residents and fellows. She also works with community groups to educate patients, their families, and communities on issues related to cancer care.
