James G. Herman, MD, is a medical oncologist at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. He specializes in the treatment of lung cancer, is professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and is the UPMC Endowed Chair in Lung Cancer Research. Dr. Herman is co-leader of the Lung Cancer Program, and specializes in lung cancer research focused on understanding the molecular changes that drive lung cancer, using this for the prevention and early detection of lung cancer and to select targeted therapies.
Dr. Herman is board-certified in medical oncology. He received a medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, and completed an internal medicine residency at Duke University and a medical oncology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
