UPMC Hillman Cancer Centre at Whitfield, opened in 2006 and offers world-class cancer care to patients in South East Ireland.
The Cancer Centre is located about 100 miles from Dublin, Ireland's capital and largest city, and is the first international partnership for UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Based on its high quality standards and patient safety, the center in Waterford has been accredited three times by the Joint Commission International since 2008.
The facility was established to meet the need for radiotherapy services in Southeast Ireland, where greater access to state-of-the-art radiation therapy treatment was needed. This location, like the US-based network locations, is built on UPMC's "hub and spoke" model, which gives patients being treated at UPMC Whitfield access to the expertise and technology available at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
