People with cancer are at a higher risk of infection because cancer and cancer treatments can weaken the immune system. It is crucial for patients and their caregivers to understand and follow the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with regard to risk reduction. Patients experiencing symptoms like fever, cough, runny nose, and shortness of breath should contact their care team as soon as possible.
