In July 2012, following a routine blood test, my PCP told me my PSA (prostate specific antigen) levels were high and ordered a biopsy of my prostate. The biopsy came back positive for prostate cancer. Dr. Raymond Wynn at UPMC Horizon explained what I was up against and how to approach it in the best way possible. After considering the various options presented to me, I decided to proceed with radiation therapy. Following a series of treatments, my therapy ended in February 2013; at that time, I received a good prognosis from Dr. Wynn.
Throughout my treatments, I was overwhelmed by the positive support I received from the doctors, nurses, radiation therapy technologists, and clerical personnel. The compassion, professionalism, and efficiency of the entire staff reassured me that I had made the right choice in choosing UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
