UPMC Hillman Radiation Oncologists Named Fellows of ASTRO

PITTSBURGH – Two UPMC Hillman Cancer Center radiation oncologists have been designated Fellows of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (FASTRO), the world’s largest society for radiation oncology professionals.
Felicia Snead, M.D., and Sushil Beriwal, M.D., M.B.A., will receive their FASTRO designation at a virtual awards ceremony on Oct. 27, during ASTRO’s 62nd Annual Meeting.
Snead is the medical director of radiation oncology services at St. Clair Hospital Cancer Center, affiliated with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, and clinical assistant professor of radiation oncology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Beriwal is deputy director of radiation services at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, medical director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, and is professor of radiation oncology at the Pitt School of Medicine.
“Drs. Beriwal and Snead join an elite group of just 19 physicians and medical physicists who are recognized this year for their far-reaching contributions to the field of radiation oncology and their progress in advancing cancer research, education and patient care,” said Theodore L. DeWeese, M.D., FASTRO, chair of the ASTRO Board of Directors.
The ASTRO Fellows program, awarded annually since 2006, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to radiation oncology through research, education, patient care and service to the field. Since its inception, the FASTRO designation has been awarded to 366 of ASTRO’s more than 10,000 members worldwide.
