Our Services: Fitness Assessments and Education

It's vital to stay active before, during, and after cancer treatment. That's where the UPMC Moving Through Cancer Program can help.

A UPMC Hillman Cancer Center exercise oncology specialist can meet with you to:

  • Discuss your current physical function and fitness level.
  • Answer any fitness questions.
  • Advise you on the best services and exercises to meet your needs.

Exercise Sessions

We offer two options: in-person and virtual.

You can choose either option or switch between in-person and virtual visits.

Sessions may last between 15-45 minutes based on your needs.

In-person exercise sessions

You will meet one-on-one with our cancer exercise specialist who will:

  • Provide education.
  • Guide you through exercises at your current level.
  • Design a fitness program you can do at home.

Virtual exercise sessions

This option may be suitable if you don't live close to or routinely visit UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh's Shadyside.

You'll receive the same services as the in-person program.

The Exercise Room

The Exercise Room is located in UPMC Hillman's flagship location in Shadyside.

The space includes aerobic, resistance, balance, and mobility equipment to meet each person's needs.
