What to Expect During Targeted Therapy

If your cancer type is commonly associated with a molecular target, your doctor at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center may suggest targeted therapy.

Some cancers are strongly associated with targets, but some are not. In these cases, you will need testing to see if the target is present.

Your care team may perform a biopsy or other method to obtain a sample of your tumor's tissue for testing.

How Will I Receive Targeted Therapy?

If your test results find a molecular target is present, you will receive shots of targeted therapy drugs.
