Volunteering at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center
Volunteer and Community Services places volunteers in positions of service within UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families during their visit or stay, and to enhance the ongoing efforts of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center scientists, medical staff, and employees.
Volunteer opportunities are created wherever there is a need, and volunteers are provided the opportunity to learn and experience personal growth while working to reduce the burden of cancer.
Why Volunteer?
Some individuals choose our program to gain educational and career-related experience, while others may seek personal fulfillment and growth. Still, others volunteer because of a commitment to serve our community. Many volunteers are themselves cancer survivors or have been moved to serve by family or friends who have been diagnosed with cancer. When you volunteer with us, you become a part of the cure for cancer.
Who Can Volunteer?
There are many volunteer opportunities for adults (18 years of age and older) and seniors. Our program is flexible and can accommodate school, social, or work schedules.
Where Do I Begin?
- Complete an application.
- Submit two personal references.
- Participate in an interview where you will find out about our volunteer opportunities available along with the steps you must complete to become a volunteer.
Please note that you cannot begin the online orientation until you have completed your interview.
