Our Treatment Approach

The Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers provides patients with access to a team of highly trained and experienced leukemia specialists. We were the first in western Pennsylvania to provide FDA-approved CAR T-cell therapy for young adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and our experts use the latest and most effective diagnostic procedures and treatments for patients with all types and stages of the disease.

Our physicians work together and routinely discuss cases to develop the most appropriate treatment plans for your type and stage of disease based on the latest research and your:

  • Disease characteristics
  • Overall health
  • Social situation
  • Treatment goals
  • Current treatment guidelines
  • Eligibility for clinical trials

We have more than 30 years of experience in stem cell transplantation and are collaborating on—and sometimes leading—industry-sponsored clinical trials investigating the latest immunotherapies for leukemia. Our customized plans may include stem cell transplantation and immunotherapy, such as CAR T-cell therapy, based on your individual needs.
